About the club
At the heart of Golborne
Golborne Parkside is a volunteer-run sports and community club on the Hugo Johnson Playing Fields. It began as a small rugby club, a bowling green and a few allotment plots. It is now one of the busiest community spaces in the village.

More than a rugby club
Most people know Parkside for the rugby. Sixteen teams run out of this ground, from four-year-olds taking their first session to Men's and Women's Masters still turning out decades later.
But the club has never been only that. The crown green bowling section and the allotments have been part of Parkside since the beginning, and the darts and dominoes teams keep the clubhouse busy through the winter. On any given week more than a thousand people pass through the doors for one reason or another.
The clubhouse itself was rebuilt in 2004. Today it hosts birthdays, christenings and celebrations, and it is home to dozens of local community groups who need somewhere affordable and welcoming to meet.

Open to everyone
Boys and girls, men and women, from Newbies at four years old through to Masters. No trials, no barriers — if you want to play, there is a team.
A village asset
The club is a meeting place as much as a sports ground. Community groups, family occasions and local events all have a home here.
