Golborne Parkside

Privacy Policy

This page explains what Golborne Parkside Sports & Community Club does with the information you give us through this website. It is written to be read, not to be got past.

Who we are

Golborne Parkside Sports & Community Club, Hugo Johnson Playing Fields, Rivington Avenue, Golborne, Warrington WA3 3HG. The club is the data controller for anything collected here. If you want to ask about your information, contact us using the details on our contact page.

What we collect, and why

Booking and venue enquiries

When you ask about hiring a room we collect your name, your phone number and email address, the date and time you want, the type of event, guest numbers and anything else you tell us. We use it to answer you and to hold the room. It is kept while the booking is live and for our own records afterwards, so we know who has used the club.

The lawful basis is that we are taking steps at your request to enter into an agreement with you.

Team and general enquiries

When you contact us about joining a team or anything else, we collect what you put in the form so we can reply. It is emailed to the club’s inbox, where a club volunteer picks it up and answers you.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch with the club.

The newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter we collect your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We also record the date you confirmed and a one-way scrambled version of your internet address — not the address itself — so we can show that consent was given if anyone ever asks.

Nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by asking us. We keep the record of your subscription until you unsubscribe.

Messages to the club’s Facebook page

If you message the club’s Facebook page, Meta (Facebook) handles the message. You will get one automatic reply pointing you to the booking page and the club’s phone number, and a club volunteer reads and answers messages there. Please don’t put anything sensitive in a message. To book a room, use the booking form.

Keeping the website safe

Like any website, the server keeps short-term logs of the requests it receives, including internet addresses, so faults and attacks can be looked into. To stop the forms being used for spam, the website counts how often each internet address sends them, and forgets the count after an hour. If a form shows a security check, that check is Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at your browser and connection to tell people from automated spam.

Club volunteers manage bookings, fixtures and the newsletter in a password-protected part of the website. To stop anybody guessing that password, each attempt is counted against a scrambled version of the internet address it came from, and the count only matters for half an hour.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website, and your information on it, safe.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information, we do not swap it, and we do not pass it to sponsors or partners. The only other organisations involved are the services that run the website and its email:

Hostinger hosts the website, its database and the network that delivers its pages, and sends the website’s emails. Everything you send through a form is stored on Hostinger’s servers on the club’s behalf.

Google provides the club’s email inboxes (Gmail), so booking requests and contact form messages are delivered to Google’s servers. The website’s typefaces come from Google Fonts too, so your browser fetches them from Google, which tells Google your internet address and what browser you use.

Font Awesome (Fonticons, Inc.) supplies the website’s icons, which your browser fetches from Font Awesome’s servers in the same way.

Meta (Facebook), only if you message the club’s Facebook page, and Cloudflare, only where a form shows a security check.

The website is built and looked after for the club by Mako Digital, who can see what is stored on it while maintaining it.

Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your information may be handled there. Each explains how it protects it in its own privacy policy: Hostinger, Google, Font Awesome, Meta and Cloudflare.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you around the internet. These are the only things it stores in your browser:

The booking form keeps what you have typed in your browser’s session storage, so it is not lost if the page reloads. It is cleared when you close the tab or once your request has been sent, and nothing reaches the club until you send it.

WordPress keeps a note in session storage of whether your browser can show emoji. It holds nothing about you.

Club volunteers only. Unlocking the club manager sets a cookie called gps_manage_pass, which keeps that device unlocked for 30 days and is renewed while it is in use. It holds no personal information, and it stops working on every device as soon as the club changes the password. The manager also keeps unsent changes, and a notifications setting, in the device’s own storage. Anyone who logs in to WordPress itself gets WordPress’s usual login cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to what we are doing with it. Ask through the contact page and we will deal with it within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

The club runs teams for children from four years old upwards. We do not knowingly collect information about a child through this website — enquiries about junior teams should come from a parent or guardian, and anything to do with registering a young player is handled off the website by the team’s coach.

Changes

If we change how we use your information we will update this page. It was last updated on 6 October 2026.
