One place for everything Parkside

Golborne Parkside has a new website, and it is going to do rather more than sit there looking smart.

For years, finding out what is happening at the club has meant knowing the right person, following the right Facebook page, or asking at the bar. That works if you have been coming for twenty years. It does not work if you have just moved to Golborne and want to know whether there is a team for your seven-year-old, or if you are trying to find somewhere to hold your mum’s wake, or if you run a local business and have never thought about the club at all.

From today, golborneparkside.co.uk is the single place where all of it lives.

What you can do already

Find your team and speak to the right person. All sixteen sides are listed, from Newbies through to Men’s and Women’s Masters, each with the coach’s number. No more asking around to find out who runs the under-tens.

See when the rooms are free. The venue hire page shows hour-by-hour availability for all three function rooms. If you want the Main Room on a Saturday in November, you can see straight away whether it is open before you speak to anybody. Send an enquiry and the slot is held while the club comes back to you.

Understand what the club actually is. Rugby league, crown green bowling, darts and dominoes, the allotments, and a clubhouse that more than a thousand people pass through every week.

What is coming

Fixtures and results across every section. A full twelve-month calendar of what is on, so you can see the comedy nights and family days coming months ahead rather than a fortnight before. A matchday page with squads and the league table. And a partners section, so the businesses that back Parkside get seen properly rather than being a name on a board nobody reads.

Why it matters

Parkside is run by volunteers. Every hour somebody spends answering the same question on Facebook for the fifteenth time is an hour not spent coaching, or fundraising, or running the bar. Putting the answers somewhere everyone can find them gives that time back.

It also means the club can be found. Somebody searching for a function room in Golborne, or junior rugby near Lowton, or somewhere for a christening — none of them are going to find us in a Facebook group. They will find us here.

This is the start rather than the finish. If something is missing, or wrong, or you have photographs the club should be using, tell us and it will get fixed.
